He kept our lips firmly placed together making no attempts to move. It was the simplest kiss Iâve ever had, it lasted barely more than a second but what I felt after was more than anything I had ever felt before. I feel like my insides were going to burst, my heart felt constricted in my chest. When he pulled away I wanted to pull him back, desperate to hold onto that feeling but I stopped myself. My hands clawed at my side. He didnât breath a word, instead he just stood there as his lips still often so softly brushing mine. As soon as I leaned into his embrace he moved away.
âYou can leave my office nowâ, he barked without looking at me. I straighten, a little perturbed and more than anything disappointed in myself. I thought I had more respect for myself than this. âGladlyâ, I spit, wanting to have the last word for once.
I work for the next couple of hours, Iâm too angry to be upset. My hand lifts up to trace the outline of my lips. Itâs like heâs imprinted himself on me because it doesnât matter how hard I try and forget I can still feel his softness of his lips on mine. He smelt like that blueberry gum, a product from one of his clients. I shake my head as if it would help me rid of these thoughts that are plaguing my mind. Even though I have a strong dislike for Benjamin right now I take some of his advice to mind and for the next couple of hours I pour myself into my work. He has some meetings I need to reschedule and push a few forward. Benjamin likes to have a maximum of three meetings a day, most of them lasting no more than two hours.
I hear a soft rapt on the door and Iâm on instant alert. âCome inâ, I murmur gingerly. I breath a sigh relief when I see Suzanne but everyone calls her Suze. Sheâs just about the only one who dares be brave enough to come to the floor. All of Benjaminâs staff have to go through me in order to talk to him which means Iâm bombarded with at least a hundred phone calls a day.
âHi Suzeâ, I say as she scurries in, closing the door behind her and sitting in the seat opposite mine. Suze is in her 60âs with short, grey hair and blue eyes. Sheâs the second person to be hired into the company, the first being me. I had seen at least 40 other people until I met Suze, she made me burst out laughing within 5 minutes of meeting her and I knew she was perfect. Sheâs crazy, but sheâs also brilliant at what she does.
âDo you have a minute?â. I nod, before her lips purse. âIâve heard some informationâ. âYesâ, Iâm a little wary now, itâs not often I see Suze so serious. âSomeone bought the Westwick manorâ. I fly out of my chair.
